Coaching forms the heart of the FCYSA softball program. At all levels of play, the coach plays a leading role in making softball a positive, character-building experience for every athlete, as well as parents, fans and officials.

Foster City Youth Softball hopes that its leaders, coaches and parents will further their knowledge about what it takes to create a youth sports culture where athletes thrive and develop a love of the game that lasts a lifetime. Among these are:

• Honor the Game- model and teach athletes to Honor the Game by setting high standards and demonstrating respect for Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and one's Self.
• Redefine "Winner"- help players redefine what it means to be a "winner," by focusing on mastery of a skill rather than solely on the scoreboard. Athletes that pursue mastery of their sport are those who give 100% effort at every practice and game.
• Fill Emotional Tanks - striving to achieve the "Magic Ratio" of five praises to one criticism.

Over the course of the season, FCYSA will offer a series of clinics and other training programs to assist coaches in this important youth leadership role.
